Monomono Brings the Flavour of Nikkei to Bandung

With its cool mountain air, creative energy, and vibrant street culture, Bandung has long been a favourite getaway for travellers and food lovers alike. From its indie fashion outlets to art cafés and nature escapes, the city is a melting pot of culture — and nowhere is that more evident than in its dynamic food scene. Amidst the sea of stylish restaurants and trendy eateries, Monomono rises above the rest with a concept that’s both bold and refreshingly different.

Tucked inside the elegant Gaia Hotel, Monomono invites guests into a spacious, two-storey setting that blends social dining with sleek design. Featuring a full-service cocktail bar and a breezy elevated lounge, it’s a place where good food meets good vibes.

The name Monomono comes from the Japanese word mono (物), meaning “thing” — representing the fusion of flavours and ideas. At its core is Nikkei cuisine, the unique marriage of Japanese culinary techniques with fiery Peruvian ingredients, a tradition born from Japanese immigrants in Peru. To this, Monomono adds the richness of an Argentinian Asado grill, creating a menu that’s full of surprises.

Start with a tangy ceviche or smoky beef anticucho, then move on to heartier dishes like Lomo Saltado, or the indulgent Pato — slow-cooked duck with coriander rice and huancaína sauce. The Asado grill offers prime beef and lamb cuts, paired with chimichurri, garlic confit, and local Lembang tomatoes.
